My Ballet Blog

 WedJan132010:

I have the most wonderful news! Today we went into town to sign in for this year's ballet, and I'm supposed to be doing Grade four and Firn is supposed to be doing Intermediate Foundation. But Tannie Vida said I was much better than the other grade four kids, I'm going to skip grades 4 and 5 and go straight to Pre-elementary! And that is point work, but I'm not going on point I'm only turning 11 in May. And for point work Tannie Vida says I must be 13, which is what age Firny is. I already do my stretching at night. Go and look on my Stretching page for tips that I have picked up. Ballet is starting on the 18th of Jan, I'm so exited.

Mon Jan 18 2010:

Ballet started today and it was great! I love the music for the Plies it sounds so wonderful and I liked the Fondus with Tannie Vida saying "Melt and Stretch, Melt and Stretch."  I am finding the Petite Reterie very difficult.

Teaching:

On Wednesdays I normally teach. And this year I'm teaching Pre-Primary and Grade one.  I already know the Pre-Primary syllabus but I can only faintly remember grade one from when I did it. It was great fun to be able to teach again. I love teaching and Tannie Vida asked me to help the littlies with pointing in grade one, when they pointed to the back they bent their bodies.

My Ballet:

I absolutely hate Frappes, especially the double ones and we learnt our Port de Bras but I'm finding the music very difficult to follow, Tannie Vida said it would be. Firn is so musical, she follows the Port de Bras beautifully. We stretched after class and I was about six centimetres off the floor in my splits! But I still can't reach my toes standing up or sitting, I've got such short hamstrings.

Mon Jan 25 2010:

Today we started with our Barre work as usual and then did our Port de Bras, Tannie Vida taught us the Intermediate Foundations Pirouettes and I'm so bad with them! I hope I will get better in time

Teaching:

The littlies did great! They hardly made a mistake, and teaching was quite uneventful.

My Ballet:

We learnt our Adage to day and I'm finding it a bit difficult as I've got to do lots of Developes and in Grade Three we didn't do any Developes in the centre. And also in our Adage I've got to do an Arabesque holding my foot up for about 7 seconds and I'm struggling with that. And we learnt our Petite Allegro and it was quite difficult with remembering when which foot was in front and which foot was back.

Mon Feb 01 2010:

Our Barre work went fine except that Tannie Vida said that when I was turning, I turned on my heels and not on my toes. We learnt our Allegro Study today, but didn't to it with the music. Tannie Vida says it's so fast with the music that we just had to get it into our heads before doing it with the music, and one of Tannie Vida’s pupils who had done this last year showed it to us with the Music.

Tue Feb 02 2010:

Today we went to get Firn's fist pair of Pointe shoes!! Firny was not at all excited about it. But I was so excited, looking all over the shop and in the end Firn got her Pointe shoes they were Cecilia Kerche and I got a pretty blue skirt for my teaching. It was great fun and Firn even faked enjoying it when the lady whom had helped use said "Enjoy your Pointe work!" with a wave of her delicate hand.

Teaching:

Pre-Primary, when jumping the littlies would bend their knees when in the air so their feet would be behind them. I had to demonstate skips and the jumps. Grade one, Barre work went well, littlies bent their bodies a lot when doing Grande Battemondes to the back.

My Ballet:

We did Allegro Study to music today and it is rather diffficult, its fast and goes: Glissade Jete Petite assemble, glissade Jete Petite assemble, glissade jete, glissade Jete, Petite Jete five times then a Petite assemble.
